Rose was an art installation designed as an audio and visual experience focusing on memory loss and more specifically Alzheimer’s disease. Rose combined the use of film, sound and visuals to immerse those experiencing it in the life of the eponymous character, Rose. The installation was hosted in a space dressed as the bedroom of this character and the audience were invited to enter and roam freely, exploring the life, identity and the memories of Rose. Included in the installation were 3-4 wax heads carefully positioned around the room, posing as an artistic analogue to the different stages of dementia. Finally a short film was played that combined an array of footage, images, sound and music to project a surreal portrayal of Rose’s life and her deterioration to dementia.
